In February 2004 CSM Electronics hosted a lead-free seminar for our customers to ensure that they felt confident in the support offered by CSM. A copy of the presentation is available from CSM. Since then we have worked with some of our customers on the transition over to lead-free, which i am pleased to say have been successful. To advance the facility available to our customers we now have the resources to enable us to provide a full transition service. This can be broken down according to your requirements as follows: Lead-free BOM transfer This service is available for those who do not have the time or resources to invest into the transition. Using our design partners we will take your Bill Of Materials and give you an initial lead-free analysis. This will include which components are availabe lead-free, whether the components can withstand the higher temperature needed during the manufacturing process and a list of problem parts. CSM Turnkey Customers If you are already a customer of CSM, or are looking for a new turnkey supplier then we can convert your BOM's to 'lead-free' for an appropriate fee. As an added incentive to convert, these fees will be refunded once an agreed order is placed. Lead-free re-design The forthcoming RoHS directives provide an ideal opportunity for re-design, which we are pleased to offer to our customers. This will be particularly beneficial for products encountering an element of component obsolescence, and those in need of modifications and or updates. For example dual in line to surface mount conversion is likely to offer cost reduction moving forwards. Our design for manufacture guidelines can also be included to aid the build process.
